Thin Coat Render System

The Project

This is a timber framed project. We were asked by the client to suggest a spec for a thin coat render system to the external facade of their home. It was proposed that we use Magply renderboard and a Krend render system.

We asked John Malone from Magply to visit the site, which he duly obliged. He specified the system for the board. This was fixed to 50mm battens with ventilation at the top and bottom. The bottom rail was vented with an insult prevention mesh.

The render was then applied. Firstly with a HP12 basecoat, with a fully incorporated alkaline resistant mesh. And then covered and sponged to achieve the desired finish. We then left this to cure. After an awful beginning of October 2019, we finally had two days of clear weather to apply the primer and silicone TC15 top coat.
